How I work

Remote by default, meetings when they help, fees agreed before work starts, and everything in confidence.

How the work is scoped

The same four steps apply whether you are an executive or an employer. The rate and the scope are agreed in writing before any work starts.

  1. 1.

    First conversation

You describe the situation briefly. I check that I am free to act before you send any documents.

Conflict check. Making sure I do not act for anyone on the other side of your matter.

  2. 2.

    Scope and fees in writing

I confirm what I will do, what I will not do, who else may need to be involved, such as a tax adviser, and how fees are charged.

Fixed scope. What a piece of work covers is agreed before it starts.

  3. 3.

    Review and advice

I read the documents that govern your position and give you a clear written view of the options, the risks and the next decisions.

  4. 4.

    Negotiation or implementation, if needed

I negotiate terms, draft or review the agreement, or support a restructuring through consultation and implementation.

Remote by default

Most work is done by video call, email and shared documents. Clients in Malta and abroad can deal with me quickly, without travelling.

Meetings

When a meeting helps, we meet in a booked meeting room in Valletta, or at your offices.

Fees

I charge by the hour. The rate and the expected scope are agreed in writing before work starts, so there are no surprises.

An exit review has a fixed scope: what it covers is agreed in advance.

Rates. Not published here. I confirm them when we first speak.

Confidentiality

What you tell me is covered by an advocate's duty of professional secrecy.

Before taking on a matter I check that I do not act for anyone on the other side. Please do not send documents until that check is done.

Conflict check. Making sure I do not act for anyone on the other side of your matter.

One person throughout

I am a sole practitioner. The person you first speak to is the person who does the work.

More on fees, meetings and confidentiality is in the FAQs.
