Enquiries and confidentiality
What to know before you send an enquiry to Dr Aron Mifsud Bonnici at Mifsud Bonnici Advisory.
No client relationship yet
Sending an enquiry does not make you my client. I do not act for you until I confirm in writing that I accept your matter, and until then I cannot give you legal advice.
Keep your first enquiry short
Please tell me your name and contact details, whether you are writing as an executive or employee, an employer or an adviser, the name of your employer or the other party, what the matter is about, and whether a claim has been filed at the Industrial Tribunal or in court.
Please do not send detailed accounts, contracts, letters, recordings, or medical or financial records yet. I may be unable to act because of a conflict of interest, and I will ask for further detail once I have confirmed that I am free to act.
Conflict checks
Before accepting any matter, I check whether acting for you would conflict with my duties to a current or former client. To do this, I need your full name and the full name of your employer or the other party, together with any other person or company with a significant role in the matter, such as a parent company, a buyer or a union. Please also tell me if you have consulted me before.
I use this information only for the conflict check and to reply to you.
Confidentiality
I treat everything you send me as confidential from the moment I receive it, whether or not I go on to act for you. If I cannot act, I will tell you promptly so that you can instruct another advocate. I will not use or disclose your information, and I keep only a limited record that a conflict check was run and the matter declined.
Deadlines
Employment matters often run against short deadlines: a date to accept an offer, a consultation period, or the time limit for filing a claim. If a deadline is close, say so in your enquiry. If I have not confirmed that I can act and the deadline is near, take advice from another advocate without delay.
Your personal data
Dr Aron Mifsud Bonnici is the controller of the data you send. I use it to take steps at your request and for my legitimate interest in running conflict checks. The privacy notice explains this in full, including your rights.
